How to Deal with People Who Are Not Meant for You

People don’t value you when they become too used to you.

Let that sink in.

Not everyone in your life is meant to stay.
Not every friend is a friend.
And sometimes, the people around you are the exact ones draining your energy and blocking your growth.

So how do you deal with people who are not meant for you?

 Don’t play into their game.
There’s one line that saved me from unnecessary drama:
“Prince, don’t play into their game.”
It became magic for me.
Let’s say someone keeps pushing your buttons—if you react, you’ve already lost.
Next time, just look them in the eyes, smile, and walk away.
That’s real power. You’ve just taken control back.

 Ask the bold question.
Call it out gently: “Did you do that just to annoy me?”
You’re not looking for a fight. You’re showing strength without aggression.
It tells them: “I see you—but I won’t be moved by you.”

Stop keeping people you don’t benefit from.
This one is hard but necessary.
Too many friends equals too many opinions.
And when you’re trying to please everyone, you start betraying yourself.
You don’t need a crowd—you need clarity.

 Use absence to gain respect.
There’s a law in The 48 Laws of Power that says: “Use absence to increase honor and respect.”
When you’re always available, you become invisible.
Respect is built in distance.
Think of celebrities. Why do people idolize them? Because they’re not always in your face.

So to deal with people not meant for you—don’t always show up.

 Stand your ground.
This might be the most important one.
Even if your “No” is soft, make sure it’s solid.
People who aren’t meant for you thrive on your indecision.
But once you become bold, confident, and unshakeable, they start to disappear on their own.

Weakness invites control. Strength sets boundaries.

When people see you’re taking your power back, they back off.
And trust me, people who aren’t meant for you will never elevate you.
Don’t give them the permission to define your path.

Take back your power.
